Let’s Do 52 – Week 1
Posted under: The amazing photography blog at Paint the Moon Photography is hosting a kind of photography challenge for the year 2012. Every week, another theme is posted to inspire creativity among photographers, and the results are up on the Flickr group. Others will probably be hosting their images elsewhere, and Paint the Moon is also featuring photos using their action sets.
If you’re unfamiliar with Paint the Moon, I suggest you go check it out. Annie is the heart and soul behind it, and her photography is simply stunning. She also has a personal “mommy” blog with beautiful insights about her family and the way they live. And last but not least, her photo actions are amazing. Some of the most creative and downright useful actions I’ve ever dealt with – they will immediately become your favorites when edited your own photos.
I’ve chosen to do this challenge because I hope it will help strengthen my abilities as a photographer in the upcoming year as I’ve primarily fallen completely out of touch with everything but taking pictures of my little boy. Not saying that this is going to help curb that urge, plus I’ve got a little girl coming soon (as in very soon) who will most likely be featured as well. It’s just been a long time since I’ve felt like I’ve really done anything artistic. I know that’s absurd; I do artistic things all the time, I just have this weird thing about my “fine” art and my “everything else” art.
I’ll be posting my images on the Flickr group, but also here as I go.
Week one’s theme was “Sharing” or “All Natural”. I chose the Sharing theme because I found this picture I took of Savannah and Michael sharing Grandma and her Smartphone full of adorable videos. I cropped quite a bit out of the original image and it was never as sharp as I liked, but I found it heartwarming regardless. I edited it with Paint the Moon’s “Macchiato” and “Heaven Shines Down” actions from the Coffee House set.
