Dice Box
My husband and I are role-playing geeks, so I decided to make him something for his dice this Christmas. I’ve been toting around these cool metal hinged boxes for a couple of years now wanting to turn them into something. They were originally for my mini LED Christmas lights I bought.
Since he’s my favorite Game Master (and not just because he’s my husband) I wanted to make him something GM-related. Which led me to Penny Arcade because well, they’re funny and they just finished a series on how to destroy your players that have been coddled in 4E. My husband is a Tycho fan, so I thought this comic would work the best for the project. I printed the second panel onto a piece of inkjet transparency film after reversing it, then cut it out and applied it to the top of the box using Mod Podge. Simple, elegant, and cool. And it’s still silver and shiny.

Then I accented the lid with a strip of black fun foam and a goofy red jewel, because there was a seam there. Yeah.

Another view of the box.

And, of course, the inside is lined in red velvet. I’m not sure how well dice will roll in it, but they’ll be nice and cushy.

I technically gave it to him yesterday, because I’m one of those people who get cool presents and then can’t wait to give them away to their owners. I’m weird.
I also finished another Whimsykin, and that leaves “technically” three to go but probably more like two that I have to get done by this weekend. And still no baby.
